Universal Power Group (UPG) Breakaway kit designed to bring trailer safely to a stop by activating the electric brakes if the trailer disconnects from the tow vehicle. The breakaway system acts as a last line of defense against a runaway trailer. Breakaway kits are required in most states for trailers weighing more than 3,000 lbs.
